Northcroft School are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic and imaginative Humanities classroom practitioner who understands that students take individual and multiple pathways in their learning and are committed to doing the best by the young people that they work with. To be willing to gain knowledge of the KS2 curriculum and how this supports progression to Key Stage 3, likewise for KS3 and how this supports progress into KS4 ensuring that gaps in prior learning can be closed. Northcroft School seeks teachers who when it is needed can adapt the curriculum to deliver a primary approach to Key Stage 3 learners, all of which is supported by a dedicated team and West Berkshire Local Authority. The school believes in inspiring students to develop a deep understanding of historical events, peoples and period. Students attending Northcroft school thrive from a dedicated enrichment curriculum which runs alongside both History and Geography Curriculum. Part of the Humanities role will be to support non specialist teachers in identifying missed prior learning for some students and ensuring that a plan of how to expose students to this knowledge, while teaching an age-appropriate curriculum and can skilfully be offered. For students in KS3 the national curriculum will be delivered through the Oak Academy Scheme after which they will progress onto a GCSE through the AQA scheme. For students with low level attainment standalone certifications will be offered.
