Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant Rheumatologist based at North Tyneside General Hospital, supporting the delivery of a Trust-wide multi-disciplinary Rheumatology Service.
The consultant team has a range of special interests, and the successful candidate will complement other members of the department. They will provide Rheumatology services to the populations of North Tyneside and Northumberland, working with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.

The posts will be flexibly time-tabled to meet service demands, and session timings may change as the service develops.
The full-time working week will comprise 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), divided into:
1. Direct Clinical Care
2. Supporting Professional Activities

1. Direct Clinical Care (outpatient clinics, admin, and MDT meetings): 8.5 PAs
2. Supporting Professional Activities: 1.5 PAs
The Trust supports continuing professional development as per Royal College guidelines and offers time and financial support for these activities.
A proposed job plan is outlined in Appendix 2 and will be finalized at appointment start.
The role includes responsibility for medical appraisal, acting as a lead/primary appraiser within the service, and ensuring all medical staff undertake annual appraisals in line with Trust policies and GMC standards.
