Location
York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management LLP (YTHFM LLP) are looking for Porters to join our team within York Hospital.
Role Overview
The working pattern for this role will be a mixture of 06:00-14:00, 14:00-22:00 and 22:00-06:00, 5 days over 7 days inclusive of bank holidays and weekends.
Previous Portering experience is an advantage; however full training will be provided. A willingness to learn and develop your skills is essential.
Responsibilities
* Patient Transfers
* Delivery of Linen
* Collection of Domestic and Clinical Wastes
* Mortuary Transfers
* Attend Entonox banks
* Respond to fire alarms
* Specimen Collections
* Blood Delivery
* Medical Gases
* Transportation of wheelchairs and modular equipment/furniture around the hospital site
* Deploy and assist emergency services and agencies where appropriate, including during major incidents
Key Requirements and Skills
* Previous experience/knowledge within a customer service role
* Awareness of health and safety
* Strong interpersonal, organisational and time management skills
* Self‑motivated and able to use initiative
* Ability to undertake training relevant to the post
* Good team player
* Flexible to work various shifts, including weekend hours with enhanced rates
