The post is a temporary full-time Teacher of Physical Education within the Health & Wellbeing faculty. The faculty currently comprises 13 teachers, including the PT. One day per week will involve teaching at Dunbar Primary School with a focus on transition.
You should be able to work effectively with others across various school matters, sharing decision-making responsibilities.
A good sense of humour and perspective are also important qualities.

Dunbar Grammar is a six-year, fully inclusive, comprehensive, non-denominational, co-educational school serving Dunbar and surrounding areas. It is one of seven secondary schools in East Lothian. The current building opened in 1961 and is situated centrally in Dunbar, featuring spacious playgrounds and a sports field.
The school is fully accessible for disabled individuals and boasts excellent facilities, including a Games Hall, Fitness Room, Drama Studio, and Recording Studio, following redevelopment under East Lothian Council's PPP scheme.
Associated primary schools include Dunbar PS, West Barn's PS, Stenton PS, Innerwick PS, and East Linton PS. The school roll in September 2024 was 1,116 with approximately 90 staff members.
Job Details
Teaching relevant subjects across S1-S6.
Responsibilities include:
1. Teaching assigned classes with preparation and correction.
2. Developing the school curriculum.
3. Assessing, recording, and reporting pupil progress.
4. Preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with administration.
5. Providing educational guidance and advice to pupils.
6. Promoting pupil health, welfare, and safety.
7. Collaborating with parents, support staff, and professionals.
8. Engaging in professional development.
9. Participating in school planning, achievement initiatives, and reviews.
10. Contributing to school order and community needs.

Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications: Registered with GTCS as a teacher of the relevant subject. Full registration required for permanent posts; provisional registration acceptable for temporary posts.
PVG Membership: This role is regulated with vulnerable groups. Candidates must become or be updated on the PVG Scheme before employment.
