Purpose of Role:
To operate modern farm machinery and support the daily welfare and husbandry of livestock, maintaining high standards of animal welfare, safety and operational efficiency across the farm.
Context of opportunity / Main accountabilities:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive farming operation within The Crown Estate. The Tractor Driver / Stockperson will play a key role in field operations, livestock care and general farm maintenance, contributing to a safe, efficient and high‑quality farming environment.
Key accountabilities include:
* Operating modern tractors and machinery for fieldwork, muck and slurry applications, forage operations and precision farming.
* Daily livestock care including feeding, bedding, health monitoring and supporting routine husbandry tasks.
* Maintaining accurate livestock and feeding records and monitoring feed stocks.
* Carrying out daily machinery checks, basic maintenance and supporting audits and inspections.
* Ensuring all work complies with health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
* Maintaining high standards of cleanliness across sheds, barns, yards and feed areas.
* Role‑modelling The Crown Estate values and behaviours.
Most important skills‑based requirements:
* Proven experience operating modern farm machinery (minimum 3 years).
* Confident and safe livestock handling experience.
* Full UK driving licence (Category F/tractor).
* Mechanical understanding with the ability to carry out basic maintenance.
* Ability to use digital tools (PCs and smartphones).
* Strong awareness of land‑based health and safety practices.
* Safety‑focused, reliable, adaptable and able to work collaboratively.
