Our long-standing client is looking to appoint a Senior EC&I Engineer to support the design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshootingcomplex electro-mechanical control systems within highly regulated engineering environments This is a hands-on technical role covering the manufacturing of fabricated and sheetmetal components across sectors such as nuclear, defence, transport, and high-hazard facilities. You will act as a focal point for EC&I design, working closely with Mechanical Engineers, project teams, and external stakeholders to deliver compliant, high-quality solutions. Key Responsibilities: Design & Engineering Design EC&I control systems (schematics, panel layouts, cable schedules) Produce technical drawings, documentation, and calculations Support Functional Design Specifications (FDS) Ensure designs meet required PL/SIL ratings Systems & Technical Work with motors, gearboxes, sensors, safety devices, VSDs, PLCs, and safety systems Use SISTEMA to validate safety-related control systems (SRP/CS) Support fault finding and on-site troubleshooting when required Compliance & Standards Ensure compliance with Machinery Directive and UK Safety Regulations Apply standards including BS EN 16005, 12453, ISO 13849, 60204, 7671 Check and approve EC&I documentation Project & Site Support Conduct site surveys and assess modification requirements Support installation and commissioning teams Assist with NCR resolution Collaboration Liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients Support integrated project delivery Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing Essential Requirements: Electrical Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent) Strong knowledge of Machinery Directive and UK Safety Regulations Strong electrical, control systems, and fault-finding knowledge Ability to read and produce electrical schematics Experience with CAD (AutoCAD / Inventor preferred) Ability to design compliant EC&I systems independently Desirable: Background in safety-critical industries (nuclear, defence, etc.) SISTEMA experience (PL calculations) Knowledge of VFDs, safety PLCs, and interlock systems ECS/CSCS card SC Clearance (or eligibility) On Offer: up to £59,000 DOE 37 hours per week (early finish Fridays) Exposure to complex, safety-critical projects Strong engineering environment with progression opportunities If the role is of interest, feel free to get in touch with Martin on 07467 346417 who would be happy to assist you with your application.
