Psychology Graduate Assistant – Oldham
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Psychology Graduate Assistant to support children and young people with additional academic, behavioural or emotional needs.
This role is ideal for graduates seeking hands-on experience in education, SEN, behaviour support or mental health before progressing into postgraduate study.

Key Responsibilities
• Support pupils 1:1 or in small groups, helping them meet academic, behavioural or emotional development targets.
• Apply psychological understanding to support emotional regulation, resilience and positive behaviour.
• Assist teachers and SENCOs in delivering tailored interventions and structured routines.
• Build meaningful, supportive relationships with pupils.
• Implement behaviour plans, learning plans and individual strategies.
• Contribute to observations, notes and safeguarding documentation.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary school teams.

Essential Requirements
• A degree in Psychology (or related field).
• Experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals in any setting.
• A calm, emotionally intelligent and reflective approach.
• Monday–Friday availability.
• Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Preferred but Not Essential
• Experience with SEND, mental health, behaviour needs or youth support.
• Knowledge of therapeutic approaches, child development or trauma-informed practice.
• Confidence applying basic psychological strategies in educational contexts.

Vetting & Compliance
• Two references required.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (assistance available).
• Overseas checks if applicable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
