Overview
The Head Chef at Avery Healthcare in Barnet leads a culinary team to provide high-quality, nutritionally balanced meals for residents. The successful candidate will have experience in the care or hospitality sectors, hold relevant catering qualifications, and demonstrate a passion for exceptional culinary standards.
Main duties
Your focus is to manage and lead a culinary team that delivers nutritionally balanced, comprehensive, and high-quality culinary service within budget to support the well-being of residents. Responsibilities include preparing modified diets, placing food orders, supervising and directing kitchen staff and the Host team, and ensuring safe systems of work across tasks.
* Preparing modified diets that look appealing and are well-balanced and in accordance with IDDSI guidance.
* Placing food orders with approved suppliers, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring provisions are purchased within budget.
* Supervising and directing the work of kitchen staff and the Host team, and training unqualified staff in basic food preparation.
* Practising safe systems of work and assessing risk to protect residents, visitors, and staff.

About you
To be successful, you must demonstrate our values of caring, support, honesty, respect, and accountability in all you do. The ideal candidate must:
* Have two years of experience managing a culinary team in the care or hospitality sectors.
* Hold a relevant catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ).
* Demonstrate passion and commitment to delivering high-quality culinary standards to residents.
* Demonstrate an ability to manage a budget.
