About the Role:
As a member of the Catastrophe and Exposure Management team, you'll report directly to the Cat Modelling Manager. The team sit within the Everest International CUO Office and report directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer, with an additional secondary reporting line to the Group Head of Cat and Exposure Management. This dual reporting line allows the International Cat team to be integrated with underwriters whilst ensuring we share technical capabilities with our colleagues in North America.
Your key responsibilities are to help manage and monitor catastrophe risk across all lines of business. You'll play a key role in:
* Managing and monitoring accumulations across all classes of business to ensure that we maintain control of catastrophe risk in line with the agreed cat risk appetites set by the business,
* Providing cat analytics to inform cat pricing and business planning (both nat cat and non nat cat).
* Reporting exposures post cat events.
* Meeting regulatory requirements.
* Supporting the Group's validation of our catastrophe view of risk.
You'll be part of a team split between Exposure Analytics & Reporting and Cat Modelling, and you'll lead the charge on the modelling side.
This position will be based in our London office with a hybrid schedule that has the option of working two days remotely each week.
Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
As the Cat Modelling Lead, you'll be a strategic partner to Property Underwriters, providing them with catastrophe risk analytics both before and after binding.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Driving forward pre-bind pricing capabilities for Property across international markets.
* Enhancing underwriters' understanding of catastrophe risk.
* Leading on a variety of projects (e.g. peril-region deep dives.
* Managing the outsourcing team to ensure data quality and timely risk processing using AIR models and external data sources.
* Improving workflows for Property and developing innovative solutions to refine Everest's view of risk.
* Complete monthly roll-ups for Property classes, including running probabilistic analysis in AIR Touchstone and updating reinsurance assumptions.
* Hosting monthly meetings with Underwriters to review portfolios and assess alignment with cat appetites.
* Automating Cat modelling processes through tool development.
* Supporting catastrophe event response reporting.
* Communicating model outputs to key stakeholders including Underwriters, Actuarial teams, and Senior Management.
* Sharing knowledge and collaborating with the wider Exposure Management and Group Exposure Management function.
* Mentoring junior Cat Analysts and helping them grow.
Qualifications:
* Experience in catastrophe modelling or exposure management.
* Familiarity with Lloyd's Exposure Management requirements (a plus).
* Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially when presenting to Underwriters.
* Technical proficiency in tools like Excel, SQL, GIS, PowerBI, and Python.
* Ability to work independently and adapt to changing business needs.
* Ambitious and inquisitive, keen to work closely with the wider Cat team, to drive change in the function.
* Ability to think differently to find innovative solutions to problems.
