The Opportunity

We are looking for a talented mechanical engineer to join our data centre project delivery team in the North of the UK. You will be part of a large multi-disciplinary team delivering services to our international data centre clients.

We are a group of designers and engineers who overcome complex challenges in the built environment with creativity, technical expertise, passion and a commitment to designing with a social purpose. We are looking to fill this permanent role which will offer excellent prospects for career development and the opportunity to be involved in a diverse and interesting range of projects.

As an integral member of our multi-disciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for packages within the mechanical discipline and will be expected to take them from initial brief through scheme & detail design to installation and commissioning support.

This role will harness your core mechanical engineering skills and experience to provide technical guidance on discipline specific data centre projects, as well as mentoring and developing junior colleagues. The role will also provide an opportunity to use and develop your management skills and experience in the delivery of design packages of smaller and medium-sized projects.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for a candidate who:

* Is degree qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (IET / CIBSE accredited) & working towards Chartership.
* Is a team player who has experience of working on data centre or mission-critical projects & who enjoys working in a vibrant international environment on high profile projects where sustainability is central to the design.
* Has proven experience leading & delivering design packages through all project stages, including design, construction, testing and commissioning.
* Strong technical knowledge in chilled water systems, HVAC, and fuel systems design, with a commitment to delivering high-quality documentation.
* Can contribute to design workshops on topics such as energy efficiency (PUE), resilience (TIER levels), and business continuity & is willing to travel.

We also provide Private medical insurance, Life assurance, Accident insurance and Income protection cover. In addition, you’ll have access to flexible benefits to help you look after all aspects of your wellbeing and give you the freedom and flexibility to find the best solutions for you, your family, and your individual needs.
