About the role

At Ormiston Forge Academy we are seeking an enthusiastic and highly visible Pastoral Support Officer to promote positive behaviour, attendance and student wellbeing in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support student attendance and punctuality.
  • Provide first‑line pastoral care.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families and staff.
  • Assist with behaviour management and respond to incidents.
  • Produce reports and contribute to safeguarding, interventions and wellbeing initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of GCSE Grade A‑C (or equivalent) passes in Maths and English.
  • First Aid qualification—or willingness to undertake first aid training as part of the role.
  • Approachable, resilient and committed to high standards of behaviour and student welfare.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral setting (desirable).
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and discretion.
  • Proactive approach to problem‑solving and teamwork.
  • Passion for supporting young people to achieve their full potential.
