Building Control Technical Support Officer Salary Grade 5 - £28,598 to £31,022 per annum We are looking for a highly motivated and well-organised individual who is proficient at working effectively as an individual with minimal supervision but who also understands and works well within the dynamics of a team environment. This is a key role supporting both the Building Control Service in delivering its statutory and commercial activities along with the Authority’s Street Naming and Numbering service. You should be confident, self-motivated and enthusiastic and have excellent communication skills. You will enjoy liaising with colleagues, the general public and other multi agency professionals and be focused upon delivering an excellent customer service at all times. The role requires accuracy, professionalism and the ability to work effectively to tight deadlines while maintaining a strong focus on service delivery. About the Role The role provides essential technical, administrative and procedural support to the Building Control Service, helping to ensure that Building Regulation applications, statutory notices and related processes are managed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with legislation and internal policies. The role involves supporting multiple stakeholders, maintaining and continually developing accurate records and back-office systems and processes to improve efficiency within the service and support its compliance. You will also be expected to play a key role in assisting with the marketing and promotion of the service, along with invoicing and monitoring of payments. About You Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately and to tight deadlines. Effective communications skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with colleagues, customers, the general public and external stakeholders. Strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of StatMap Horizon system or similar back-office systems is desirable. Knowledge and experience of working in a building control environment that reflects a combination of technical experience, knowledge of Local Government, Building Control and Records Management or the willingness to develop this. Ability to interpret and check technical information within competency limits, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and procedures including applications and notices for completeness and accuracy of the information. This is to ensure that the Authority meets its legal obligations, accurately recording and protecting relevant information. Self-motivated, confident and able to work independently, while also contributing effectively to a team environment.
