Job Description
General Education Teacher
Responsible to: Principal
Director of Curriculum & Instruction
Qualifications:
1. Valid TN Teacher's License with appropriate endorsements
2. Highly Qualified status, as applicable, in areas of assigned instruction
3. Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
4. Competent technological skills
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Prepares lesson plans and teaching strategies for courses taught
2. Aligns curriculum and assessments with state and local standards
3. Uses a variety of teaching strategies to facilitate student learning
4. Plans a program of study that addresses the individual needs and abilities of students
5. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning and social development
6. Analyzes data to guide instruction and develop assessments
7. Establishes and communicates clear expectations for lessons, classwork, and projects
8. Assigns lessons and corrects student work promptly
9. Maintains order in the classroom and school premises
10. Supervises students during school-related activities
11. Collaborates with professionals to address learning or behavioral issues
12. Communicates regularly with parents/guardians
13. Assesses student progress regularly and reports accordingly
14. Schedules parent conferences as needed, possibly outside regular hours
15. Keeps accurate attendance and academic records
16. Reports concerns about student health or welfare
17. Protects students, staff, equipment, and facilities
18. Participates in professional development and staff meetings
19. Supervises and guides teacher aides and volunteers
20. Prepares plans for substitute teachers

4. Performs other duties as assigned
