About the job
As an Environmental Enforcement Officer, you will investigate environmental crime, fly-tipping, incorrect waste presentation, waste accumulations on private land, duty of care offences and Local Environmental Quality (LEQ) offences. You will be taking enforcement action in line with Council policy. You will gather evidence, conduct interviews under caution, and prepare prosecution cases. The role involves both fieldwork and office-based tasks, including surveillance, maintaining accurate records, and working with partners to improve local environmental quality.
What We Are Looking For From You
* Good general standard of education, with strong literacy and numeracy skills.
* Knowledge of relevant waste and environmental legislation, including the Environmental Protection Act and Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
* Experience in evidence gathering, CCTV use, and preparing prosecution cases.
* Ability to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and external partners.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
* Proficient IT skills, particularly in case management systems and Microsoft Office.
* Ability to work outdoors and indoors, sometimes in challenging conditions.
* Enthusiastic, adaptable, and committed to delivering excellent customer service.

The role is based at Lamby Way but may require working from any designated Council facility.
This post is part time and will work 27.45 hours per week. The pro-rata salary
is £24,045.75 to £27,272.25 per annum plus weekend enhancements.
