Job Description:

Adecco Engineering has openings with our client for Lead (and Senior) Mechanical Design Engineers to join their organization based in Hull on a permanent basis.

Hybrid working arrangements will also be considered.

Due to new contract awards, you will support various projects during the detailed design phase, with experience relevant to the oil and gas or petrochemical industries.

Job Description:
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will report directly to the MD and will be responsible for providing technical services, including delivering project scopes, supporting and leading mechanical engineers and designers, managing, and growing the team.

Responsibilities:
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for:
- Providing technical services related to Mechanical Engineering aspects of project scopes, focusing on design, FEED, EPCm scope preparation and execution, design and safety reviews, equipment and materials specification and procurement, vendor selection, and resolving technical issues.
- Acting as a technical expert in Mechanical Engineering and the final approval authority.
- Leading the Mechanical Engineering team, developing design scope, and ensuring deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards.
- Coordinating Mechanical Engineering interfaces across project phases.
- Establishing professional relationships, supporting technical queries, and interpreting scope, specifications, and standards.
- Identifying resourcing issues or gaps.
- Ensuring work is completed within budget and schedule.

Candidate Skills/Experience/Education:
- BSc/MSc or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Chartered Mechanical Engineer status preferred.
- Experience in Mechanical Engineering design within the oil and gas, petrochemical, or chemical industries.
- Significant experience as a Lead Mechanical Engineer in consultancy, EPIC contracting, or client organizations.
- Package Engineering experience (rotating/static equipment) desirable.
- Team leadership and management experience.
- Familiarity with international design codes and standards, including ASME, API, and European EN codes.
- Experience in mechanical/piping fabrication, steel structures, and mechanical-civil interface.
- Proficiency in 3D design and modeling methods.
