Dougie Mac are recruiting Registered Nurses to our developing Young Adult Service. Successful candidates will provide holistic, person-centred care to young adults and their families. Our vision is to be admired as a centre of excellence for young adults living with palliative or complex health conditions. Care is holistic, needs-led, and promotes independence, delivered in our modern purpose-built complex through day opportunities, respite and social events.
Main duties
* Work as an integral part of the Young Adult Team: assessing, implementing and evaluating nursing care for service users living with palliative or complex health conditions.
* Lead and coordinate shifts.
* Complete a wide range of clinical interventions.
* Act as a mentor/role model to Care Support Workers.
* Supervise and support student nurses and nursing associates.
* Act as Keyworker to a small caseload of young adults.
* Support young adults in all aspects of living, including activities of daily living, social and leisure opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Registered Adult Nurse (RN) or Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD) with post-qualifying experience.
* Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience of working with service users who have additional communication needs, learning disabilities and/or physical health needs.
* Transferable nursing knowledge and skills applicable to caring for young adults with life-limiting or complex health needs.
* Experience of coordinating shifts / delegating tasks.
Desirable
* Completion of PARE Supervisor Preparation and Guidance.
* Experience of multi-agency working with health colleagues, social care and the voluntary sector.
* Experience in caring for adults or children with complex health needs or palliative care.
* Experience in supervising/mentoring others.
* Ability to drive is highly desirable due to the community aspect of this role.
Additional Criteria
* Competent clinical skills.
* Knowledge of safeguarding (Safeguarding Adults) and the Mental Capacity Act.
* Negotiation and problem solving.
* Commitment to delivering high standards of evidence-based practice.
* Planning and organisational skills; diplomatic, calm, approachable and objective communication.
* Highly motivated with a positive, assertive and confident attitude.
* Availability to work weekends and flexible to provide a 24/7 service.

* Salary: £34,031 to £37,191 per year
* Contract: Permanent
