1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant – SEMH Specialist Provision

Salary: £89–£103 per day
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2025
Are you passionate about supporting young people who need a fresh start? A specialist secondary provision for students aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is seeking a resilient and nurturing 1:1 Support Assistant to join their team.
This is a rewarding role working closely with a student who requires consistent, individualised support to access learning, manage behaviour, and develop confidence in a therapeutic and structured environment.
What you'll be doing:
1. Supporting one pupil on a 1:1 basis throughout the school day
2. Helping to regulate behaviour, manage emotions, and develop social skills
3. Working alongside teaching staff, behaviour leads, and therapists to implement a personalised support plan
4. Acting as a positive role model and building a trusting, respectful relationship
5. Promoting inclusion, independence, and a sense of belonging

6. Experience working with young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or trauma-informed practice
7. A calm, consistent and non-judgmental approach
8. Strong communication and de-escalation skills
