An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Children's Home Support Worker to join The Mead team at Hampshire County Council.

We are seeking passionate and dedicated Children Support Workers to join our team. This role offers a chance to make a significant impact in a supportive and dynamic environment where your contributions are valued.

Our approach, based on the Model of Care - Pillars of Parenting, emphasizes focusing on each child's individual strengths to support their development and positive outcomes.

The primary responsibility is to work directly with children and young people, requiring a child-centred approach and the ability to build warm, positive, and strong relationships. You will support children's goals and development as a positive role model.

The role involves shift work, including weekends and sleep-in duties. Flexible working requests can be considered. Additional pay is provided for evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins (terms and conditions apply).

What you'll do:

Work directly with children and young people aged 10-18, building warm, positive relationships and supporting their development. You will be trained in the Pillars of Parenting model and psychological approaches, with opportunities to carry out key work sessions drawing on therapeutic techniques. Training is provided by expert psychologists, and relevant qualifications will be gained.

It is essential to have the ability to form encouraging relationships to support children’s development and positive experiences.

What we're looking for:

Ability to develop warm, encouraging relationships with children.

Physical ability to participate in all aspects of Team Teach.

Emotional literacy skills.

Supportive attitude towards children’s progress.

Understanding of the needs of children in residential care, with experience supporting their independence.

Knowledge of safeguarding and supporting children who have experienced trauma or abuse.

Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

Good IT skills for record-keeping.

CF Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care or equivalent; if not held, the course must be completed within a specified timeframe.
