Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and well-qualified teacher of Psychology to teach KS5. This post would suit a well-qualified teacher with excellent knowledge and skills in psychology.
Psychology is one of the most popular subjects in the sixth form at Francis Holland, with the department delivering the AQA A-Level as a two-year course. We have two teaching groups in LVI and two in UVI.
Many of our students choose to continue their studies at degree level. We offer enrichment sessions to extend knowledge, understanding and interest beyond A-level. We organise trips to relevant events linking these to the psychological content of enrichment sessions.
All lessons are delivered in the school's inspiring new sixth form centre, The Old School House, which is a wonderful environment for intellectual debate, research and collaboration. Classrooms are equipped with docking stations and IT equipment that supports the school's digital strategy, centred on O365 and the Microsoft Surface, with the Psychology department creatively and innovatively combining the best of classical and contemporary approaches to pedagogy.
The successful candidate should be capable of teaching the full range of the Psychology specification, and to deliver outstanding teaching, to ensure effective student learning in the subject and to achieve excellent results for the students.
We are looking for someone:
* Who takes a keen interest in the welfare of the pupils and shows a clear commitment to safeguarding children.
* With a commitment to professional development and is fully informed of current educational initiatives relating to Psychology.

* With exceptional organisation.
* With a positive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Who has a desire to be involved in the wider life of the school.
* To plan, prepare and teach lessons as required by the department.
* To set homework and mark written work regularly and ensure that the correct procedures are followed if work is missing, incomplete or late.
* To set, supervise and mark school examinations and course work for public examinations.
* To assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of pupils and to communicate this information to parents via written reports and Parents' Evenings. To provide written information for the UCAS and other similar forms.
* To participate in arrangements for further training and professional development.
* To consult your line manager about any problems occurring over academic matters, such as aspects of the curriculum or the syllabus for A level.
