Offer description

The School of

Nursing, Public and Allied Health has been committed to advancing developments in health and social care for over 25 years, tracing our origins back to 1991 when the Liverpool School of Nursing and Midwifery joined with Liverpool Polytechnic. Today, we continue to strive to tackle health inequalities, social exclusion, and deprivation in local communities (and beyond) through our undergraduate and postgraduate curricula and a growing programme of international partnerships. In addition, we provide both aspiring and experienced nursing and allied health professionals with the learning experiences and research opportunities needed to meet the demands of current and future healthcare landscapes.

We are a multi award-winning school, having won the Student Nursing Times Awards on three occasions since 2018.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated academic who is passionate about delivering an outstanding student experience. In this role, you will design and deliver high-quality teaching and assessment across a range of modules, contributing to an inspiring and supportive learning environment.

You will play an active role in shaping our curriculum by contributing to the planning, development and continuous improvement of modules and programmes. Alongside your teaching, you will begin to establish your own independent research portfolio within the parameters of the school/department research portfolio and you will engage in relevant research, professional and knowledge exchange activities and have input into administrative duties.

As a valued member of the team, you will also contribute to a range of administrative and academic duties that support the effective running of the School/Department.

We are looking for candidates with a postgraduate qualification (or equivalent) or substantial experience relevant to nursing. You will have experience teaching at undergraduate level or delivering professional training, with the ability to teach across both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through lectures, tutorials, and seminars, as well as supervise postgraduate students. The role requires someone who can contribute to curriculum development and take responsibility for the effective and efficient delivery of teaching modules. Evidence of active engagement in quality research activity is also essential.

What we offer

This is a key moment to join a welcoming, ambitious, and research-informed university community that places students at the heart of everything we do. We value and invest in our staff, offering meaningful opportunities for professional development, scholarship support, and clear internal promotion routes.

As well as outstanding development support, we also offer:

1. A low contractual 35-hour week
2. Generous annual leave entitlement and Christmas period closure with the option to purchase additional annual leave
3. Excellent pension scheme
4. Access to an Employee Assistance Programme
5. Family friendly policies
6. Car and travel loan schemes

We are also investing in our staff and students by creating a busy and thriving campus, the hubs of which are our friendly and inclusive Student Life, Redmonds, Tithebarn and Byrom Street buildings. Our staff are visible and present for our students and this all adds to the fantastic student experience of living and studying in such a vibrant city. We see our staff as very much part of this community and value their contribution to the success of LJMU, Liverpool and the wider northwest region.

If you’re inspired by the idea of joining a growing university and bringing your expertise to a community where you can truly make a difference, we look forward to hearing from you.

For informal enquiries, you may contact academiccampaign@ljmu.ac.uk.

We would encourage applications from all individuals who meet the advert criteria, but would particularly encourage applications from women, ethnically diverse groups, LGBTQ+ groups, and disabled people. The University is proud of its commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and endeavours to cultivate a staff base that is representative of society. Please let us know if you require reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process.

Please note all of our vacancies will be closed to applications at midnight on the advertised closing date, unless otherwise stated.
