NextGen Teachers are working in partnership with a specialist setting in Leeds to recruit a passionate and experienced SEMH Teacher who can join their team in September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a nurturing environment, supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
The school provides a supportive and structured setting for learners who may have experienced barriers to education. Creativity plays a key role in engagement, supporting self-expression, emotional regulation, and re-engagement with learning—particularly through art and creative subjects at KS4.
This is a September start date and candidates applying must have a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a specialist setting with Qualified Teaching Status.
The Role
* Plan and deliver engaging, creative lessons across the curriculum, with a focus on KS4 learners
* Support pupils with SEMH needs through structured, consistent, and therapeutic approaches
* Use creative and artistic strategies to promote emotional expression and wellbeing
* Build strong, positive relationships to support behaviour and engagement
* Differentiate learning to meet a wide range of needs and abilities
* Monitor and track pupil progress, celebrating small steps and achievements
* Work collaboratively with support staff, senior leaders, and external professionals
* Contribute to a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Experience teaching KS4 pupils
* Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs or within alternative provisions
* A flexible and creative approach to teaching and learning
* Confidence in managing behaviour and supporting emotional regulation
* A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A genuine passion for supporting pupils to re‑engage with education
