Mintlaw Vets
Mintlaw is a small town located in Aberdeenshire, with easy access to the coast and just 30 miles from the city of Aberdeen. Our practice is situated on the outskirts of town near Aden and Pitfour Country Parks, providing a balance of rural charm and accessibility to city amenities.
We have a small and friendly team of 3.3 FTE Vets, 4.3 FTE Nurses, and a great support and administrative team who are all looking forward to supporting a new graduate. Within our team, we have a certificate holder in Veterinary Education who will also be your mentor in practice.
We have a social committee that organises regular socials with the team. We hold our ISFM Silver Cat-Friendly Clinic accreditation. We are a RWAF Rabbit Friendly Veterinary Practice. We are a veterinary nurse and VCA training practice. We are a RCVS accredited Small Animal General Practice.
In terms of facilities, we have an outdoor kennels where your pet is welcome to stay during shifts. We have a custom built practice with large car park, a light and spacious waiting room, four consulting rooms (including a dedicated nurse consultation room), a surgical operating theatre, and a radiography/dentistry suite housing up-to-date equipment. Our in-house lab is equipped with Idexx analysers and a microscope, while our cutting-edge tools include ultrasound, therapeutic laser, endoscopy, and dental radiography with very modern dental equipment.
What you will do
Enjoy a welcoming environment with structured support and flexibility to suit your lifestyle. You will work 40 hours per week which are flexible in terms of how these can be broken down. This would include 1 in 4/5 weekends which would be factored into your weekly hours. There are also no out of hours. The graduate will be supported by a friendly, collaborative team of vets, nurses, and support staff, with encouragement to ask questions and discuss cases openly. Emphasis is placed on wellbeing, work–life balance, and creating a safe learning environment where the graduate feels valued and supported. There will be regular one-to-one mentoring with an experienced veterinary surgeon, and a gradual increase in clinical responsibility at a pace appropriate to the individual.
