Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Harrow that is seeking a dedicated DT Technician to join their Design & Technology department as soon as possible.
This is a full‑time, long‑term position (Monday to Friday, 8:00am‑4:00pm) – perfect for someone with practical workshop experience who's eager to support teaching and learning in a creative, fast‑paced environment.
About the Role
* Preparing, setting up, and maintaining materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons across DT areas such as resistant materials, product design, electronics, and graphics.
* Supporting teachers during lessons and ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed.
* Maintaining and servicing machinery, managing stock, and ensuring a clean and organised workspace.
* Assisting in the creation of teaching resources, displays, and learning aids.
* Supporting students during practical sessions under the guidance of the class teacher.
* Ensuring all safety checks, COSHH records, and risk assessments are accurate and up to date.
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience as a DT Technician or in a similar workshop‑based role (e.g. carpentry, engineering, fabrication).
* A relevant qualification in Design, Engineering, or a related field is highly desirable.
* Strong knowledge of tools, machinery, and materials used in secondary DT education.
* Excellent understanding of health and safety practices.
* Organised, reliable, and proactive, with good communication and teamwork skills.
* An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
