The Respiratory Intervention Service at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford currently has a Band 5 vacancy for an experienced or newly qualified nurse who is keen to gain further insight into specialist respiratory care.
The successful applicant will join our dedicated respiratory team, based in main theatres at the JR, and will encompass our vision to deliver excellent, evidence-based care to ensure that all patients have the best clinical outcome. We provide the following services:
* Bronchoscopy
* Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS)
* Radial EBUS
* Thoracoscopy
* Chest drain insertion, management of chest drains and chest drain removal
* IPC insertion/removal/drainage
* Pleural aspiration
* Image guided pleural biopsy.
Your role will include:
Admitting and assessing respiratory patients, including cannulation, venepuncture, and administration of pre procedure medications.
Assisting our respiratory doctors and pleural specialist nurses during the procedures.
Monitoring and caring for the patients whilst their procedure is performed.
Working in the respiratory recovery area, where you will monitor post procedure patients including those who have received conscious sedation.
The Respiratory Intervention Service working hours are:
08:00 -18:00 Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
08:00 - 12:30 Wednesday and Friday.

* Registered Nurse (Part 1. 8. 12 or 15 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register depending on area of practice) or National Certification in area of Practice.
* Able to work under own initiative within boundaries of role
* Excellent communication skills.
* Demonstrates ability to manage, direct and evaluate the nursing care for a defined caseload of patients.
* Able to identify own learning needs and ensure own professional development is maintained by keeping up to date with practice developments
