This is an exciting opportunity to join a commercial Human Resource Team (LTS HR) within Leicestershire County Council, in a full-time position fixed for one year to cover maternity leave.
We are specifically seeking an individual with proven, hands-on strategic HR experience—someone who can step into the role and make an immediate, positive impact from day one. The successful candidate will be adept at navigating complex HR environments, quickly building credibility with clients, and delivering tangible results without delay.
About the Role
The role encompasses the delivery of strategic HR solutions and comprehensive services to a diverse portfolio of clients. The team primarily supports schools and academies across Leicestershire but also provides strategic HR consultancy to organisations from other sectors.
A Senior HR Adviser will exercise significant autonomy, handling responsibilities such as influencing client decisions, providing proactive and strategic solutions, overseeing account management, leading a team, advising on high-profile casework, and shaping HR policy for external clients.
We are looking for someone who is adaptable, unflappable, and ready to manage a varied and demanding workload in a fast-paced commercial setting. Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt and effectively contribute in a strategic HR capacity is vital for success in this role.
About You
Essential requirements to be successful in this role include;
* Relevant degree or professional/management qualification, or substantial operational experience in HR.
* Good understanding of the schools and academies business, and HR sector, including pay and conditions in education and public sectors.
* Demonstrated knowledge of employment and case law, with practical application in delivering HR services within commercial and challenging environments.
* Proven ability to provide pragmatic, business-focused HR advice with an awareness of risk management and improvement opportunities.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to various audiences and situations.
* Successful experience working with and influencing Trade Unions and/or employee representatives.
* Ability to manage conflicting priorities and ensure tasks are completed within deadlines.
You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
In addition, we also expect you to share our commitment to our values and will ask you to evidence when you have demonstrated them as part of the selection process.
Reasonable adjustments will be considered for applicants with a disability.
