Hours: Casual basis – Core hours 8.30am to 4.30pm
(Shifts will vary between the hours of 7.15am & 6pm)

4th July – 9am to 5pm - Activity Training
5th July – 9am to 5pm – Activity Training
6th July – 5pm to 8pm – Safeguarding & Job specific Training
7th July - 5pm to 8pm – Safeguarding & Job specific Training
Salary: £8.00 to £12.71 per hour (Age dependent)
Job Purpose
Junior Holiday club are school ages Year 3 - Year 6. In daily groups, you will be given a programme daily and a session plan which enables you to run exciting activities within your group to ensure children have the best time with us at YMCA Holiday club.
These activities may include:
1. Dodgeball
2. Aqua slide
3. Arts & Crafts
4. Team challenge
5. Sports & Games
Main Duties & Responsibilities
6. Actively engage children/young people, providing encouragement and support
7. Being a welcoming and caring individual and an inspirational role model
8. To act as a keyworker for early years children
9. Working with and respecting others in a large and diverse team
10. Being responsible for children’s welfare and pastoral needs during their stay
11. Leading activities such as bug hunting, den building, obstacle course, blind trail, sports and games and arts and crafts
12. Ensuring quality provision and consistency of care
13. Supervising the children’s lunch & break times and during “tuck” time.
14. Depending on age and ability, taking children to the toilet/helping them change out of wet clothes
15. Managing children’s behaviour with support from the Age Group Leader
16. Attending compulsory training to be competent to lead activities
17. Anything else reasonably requested by the management of the charity.
Person Specification & Key Competencies
Qualifications and Experience:
18. Good knowledge of safeguarding
19. Experience working with children aged 4 to 16 ideally in a group environment
20. Experience of working with children with differing abilities and support needs
21. NVQ Level 2 in childcare/social care/play work/nursery/forest school OR another relevant qualification
22. Sports/Outdoor experience or qualification
23. Paediatric First Aid
24. Behavioural management experience

26. An empathy and enjoyment of working with Children
27. Ability to work as part of a team
28. Ability to actively engage with the children (and adults)
29. Good leadership skills
Terms and Conditions
30. This position will be subject to the normal terms and conditions for working within the YMCA.
31. You will have a 30 minutes unpaid lunch break (where the children will have 1 hour). During your own lunch time you are welcome to stay with the children, but we do encourage you to take some personal “down time.”
First Aid training – 1 day (You will be provided with a certificate and the qualification lasts 3 years. You will not be paid for attending the course).
