Overview
The Role: As The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Training Manager you will be responsible and accountable for ensuring that training and development programmes for the Warehousing and Distribution H&S management systems and processes are developed, communicated, delivered and monitored for all Next Distribution Limited sites. The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Training Manager will support the Corporate Health & Safety team to enhance training content and delivery across NDL. You will also maintain a consultative and expert relationship with all sites and ensure training meets ongoing compliance with NEXT policies and standards. This role is based from our warehouses in South Elmsall and includes a company car.
Responsibilities
* Review and overhaul existing H&S training packages. You will develop new instructional materials for risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work (SSOWs), and high-level training based on NEBOSH/IOSH standards.
* Lead the integration of the Evotix H&S Management system and manage the Thrive eLearning platform for all NDL HSW content.
* Create and maintain a comprehensive Training Matrix to monitor compliance across all sites. You’ll also work closely with legal counsel and insurers to develop preventative training that protects our people and the business.
* From new builds and CDM projects to automated engineering systems, you will provide the learning materials and expert consultation needed for PDIs (Pre-delivery inspections) and contractor management.
* Ensure robust training is in place for high-risk areas including Fire Safety, Work at Height, Workplace Transport, and Asbestos management.
* Drive safety standards through the management structure, supporting the CPD of managers and helping our network of safety coordinators reach their full potential.
What You’ll Bring
* Technical Expertise: A NEBOSH Certificate (or willingness to achieve one) and a background in Health, Safety, and Wellbeing training. Experience within Transport, Logistics, or Automated Engineering is a significant advantage.
* Ideally, you hold a professional training/teaching qualification. You have excellent presentation skills and a creative outlook when it comes to digital content and online learning.
* A solid grasp of H&S law as it applies to warehousing. Experience with Local Authority enforcement or environmental protection (noise/air/pollution) is highly desirable.
* You are a master of tact and diplomacy. You can translate complex legal requirements into common-sense solutions that the \"bigger picture\" of the business.
* You are a self-starter who is comfortable operating with outline guidance. You are organized, decisive, and ready to take ownership of project work from day one.
