We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our supportive team at a special needs school in Winchester. The school caters to children with autism, physical disabilities, and complex medical needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners, providing vital support in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities:
* Assist children with autism and physical disabilities in their learning and daily activities.
* Provide personal care when necessary, including assisting with mobility, feeding, and hygiene.
* Support students with their medical needs, following individual care plans.
* Work closely with teachers and other professionals to implement tailored educational programs.
* Encourage students’ independence and social development in a safe, supportive environment.
* Observe and report on students’ progress and well-being, ensuring their needs are met.
* Maintain a positive and proactive approach to behavior management.
Qualifications:
* Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), preferably with autism, physical disabilities, or medical needs (desirable not essential).
* A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting children.
* An understanding of personal care requirements and a willingness to provide assistance where needed.
* Ability to work well within a team, collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other professionals.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
* A flexible, proactive, and resilient attitude in a dynamic, diverse environment.
* A relevant qualification (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Care, or SEN-related qualification) is desirable but not essential.
