Quality Control Operative (Manufacturing) Location - Denton, Manchester, M34 3SG Employment Type – Permanent, Full Time, 40 Hours a Week, 8:00-16:30 General Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Control Operative to support our manufacturing processes at the Parkway facility. Working under the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring product quality, conducting inspections, and ensuring that production meets internal standards and customer specifications. This role plays a critical part in upholding our commitment to manufacturing excellence, supporting process improvements, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities : Quality Assurance & Inspection Conduct in-process and final inspections of products to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications. Record and report quality deviations or non-conformances; escalate major issues to the Production Manager promptly. Perform routine checks on raw materials and finished goods. Maintain accurate inspection and test records for traceability and compliance. Packing & Dispatch Pack finished goods in accordance with customer specifications and internal standards. Ensure that all packed products are free from defects and appropriately labelled and documented. Assist in preparing goods for dispatch, including handling and staging for transport. Process Monitoring Support the implementation and monitoring of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Assist in identifying root causes of quality issues and work collaboratively to implement corrective actions. Monitor key quality-related KPls (e.g., defect rates, rework levels, scrap rates). Documentation & Reporting Maintain and update quality control documentation, including inspection checklists and audit records. Assist in preparing reports for internal quality reviews and audits. Health & Safety Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols during quality checks and inspections. Report any hazards or unsafe practices immediately to the appropriate personnel. Continuous Improvement Support continuous improvement initiatives across the production line, with a focus on quality, consistency, and efficiency. Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to discussions on product and process improvements Candidate Specification Essential Skills and Experience Experience in a quality control or production environment, preferably in manufacturing. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and document defects or process issues. Familiarity with measuring tools, inspection techniques, and product testing methods. Good verbal and written communication skills. Proactive attitude with the ability to work independently or as part of a team Desirable Skills Knowledge of manufacturing equipment such as CNC machines, edge banders, and spray lines. Understanding of ISO standards or other quality management systems. Experience working with or creating inspection or QA documentation. Lean or Six Sigma awareness or training Qualifications Educated to GCSE level or equivalent. Additional certifications in quality assurance, inspection, or manufacturing processes are an advantage. Health and safety awareness (IOSH or equivalent) desirable.
