Lead Psychiatrist (Durham Tees Valley & Forensic Care Group)
The Lead Psychiatrist will be expected to demonstrate the Trust values at all times and work as part of a collective leadership team. This team will ensure that the effectiveness and safety of patient care are delivered in a patient-centred manner, with decision-making as close to the patient as possible. The Lead Psychiatrist will operate within a service tier level of the care group model, contributing to organisational requirements while influencing areas of direct operational management and clinical pathways. They will share accountability and responsibility for the quality of service delivery. The post holder will serve as the professional lead for doctors within their service, with responsibility for maintaining standards of medical practice across inpatient and community teams. They will also lead on quality and safety initiatives across services. The Lead Psychiatrist and the CLT will be visible, accessible, and authoritative in clinical areas, ensuring high standards of care. They will provide professional medical advice, lead the medical workforce in their specialty or area, and ensure ongoing professional development, supervision, and accessible practices for all doctors. Working closely with the CLT, they will ensure services are provided within an integrated governance framework that is safe, effective, and efficient, maintaining standards in accordance with local, national, and statutory requirements. The post holder will act as the link between the services and the Medical Directorate regarding workforce planning and performance management. They will also attend relevant governance groups within their CLT, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and safe practices. Additionally, the post holder will be responsible for line management, professional supervision, guidance, and job planning for the medical staff.
