SASS is recruiting two Co Deputy Chairs to play an important role in leading the charity’s voluntary Board of Trustees. One of the Co Deputy Chairs will assume the role of Chair Designate, and the other will serve as a permanent Deputy Chair.

What are we looking for?

* Experience as a Trustee, charity volunteer, or senior staff member of a voluntary organization.
* A strategic mindset.
* Understanding of legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship.
* An inclusive leadership style that inspires participation and supports equality.
* External representation experience is desirable.
* Effective listening and engagement skills.
* Comfort with challenge and debate, fostering collaboration.
* Understanding of issues facing refugees and asylum seekers; lived experience is desirable.
* Strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
* Responsiveness to needs, adaptability, and willingness to lead according to SASS’s values.

What will you be doing?

Shared responsibilities include governance, strategic leadership, board development, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, setting strategic goals, safeguarding values, supporting staff and volunteers, and facilitating organizational change.

Time Commitment: Approximately 2-3 days per month, including attending board meetings (every 6 weeks), advisory group meetings (every 6-7 weeks), and monthly drop-in sessions.
