Introduction to Rushcliffe Care

Rushcliffe Care Group provides specialist adult social care and healthcare services across the Midlands and South Wales. Our services include mental health hospitals, learning disability services, dementia care, neuro rehabilitation, and specialist environments that support people with complex needs. You will be joining a team focused on safe, person centred support and high quality care.

Introduction to the Services

This advert covers all Rushcliffe Care Group services. Our teams work with service users who may have mental health conditions, learning disabilities, autism, acquired brain injury, behaviours of concern, physical health needs, or long term conditions. Each service aims to create a supportive, structured environment where people can achieve independence, stability, and meaningful outcomes.

About the Role

Senior Support Workers play a key leadership role in our services. You will support service users with physical, social, and psychological needs under the guidance of Qualified Nurses or Care Team Leaders. You will also mentor, guide, and support junior staff and act as a role model for good practice. This includes leading by example to ensure that our values and working standards are consistently upheld.

Key responsibilities drawn from the job description include:

* Delivering high quality person centred care that promotes dignity, comfort, choice, and independence.
* Supervising, guiding, and mentoring junior Healthcare Support Workers and apprentices, and supporting their training and orientation.
* Following individual care plans and providing support with daily routines, personal care, community involvement, and social activities.
* Observing, recording, and reporting changes in service users’ physical or psychological wellbeing immediately to the appropriate clinical lead.
* Supporting service users with social contacts and maintaining links outside the home or unit.
* Contributing to a safe and therapeutic environment and reinforcing health education guidance around hygiene and nutrition.
* Participating in study days, training, and competency updates as required, including Delegated Healthcare Task training where appropriate.
* Supporting safe practice and maintaining high standards of conduct in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act.

The role also includes physical activity requirements such as moving and handling, standing and walking for periods of time, and assisting with tasks across different areas of the service, as detailed in the job description.

You will be joining Rushcliffe Care, a company with over 35 years of experience in offering the highest levels of care to our most vulnerable in society. Our values, Reputable Care, Respect and Compassion, Robust Communication, and Real Commitment, guide everything we do.

About You

You must be someone who leads by example and supports others with professionalism and empathy. You will bring:

* A Level 2 or 3 Health and Social Care Diploma or NVQ, or you will be working towards Level 2 or 3, plus completion of the Care Certificate or relevant experience within 6 months.
* Strong communication skills and the confidence to mentor and guide junior colleagues.
* A caring approach, reliability, and the ability to respond calmly to situations.
* Commitment to promoting dignity, choice, and independence.
* Willingness to complete Delegated Healthcare Task training and Safety Intervention training where required.
* The ability to work flexibly across a shift based rota including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays, as set out in the job description.
