Entity: Supply, Trading & Shipping Job Family Group: Supply & Trading Group Job Description: Join bp’s LNG and Gas Trading team as a Long-term Market Strategist, to develop mid- and long-term market forecasts. The Market Strategist team is responsible for owning the groups global gas and LNG market outlooks and translating it into clear, actionable guidance for trading, investment, contracting, portfolio strategy, and risk management decisions. This role will support the Lead Market Strategist with the long-term global model update process, developing forecasts, and delivering deep‑dive analysis across a range of topics and regions. This role is oriented towards long-term commercial decision-making rather than trading activities. You will collaborate across origination, shipping, structuring and strategy teams to provide actionable insights for key commercial decisions. Key Accountabilities Support global gas and LNG supply and demand balance creation and long ‑ run price views for mid ‑ and long ‑ term horizons. Run and support the global model update process; maintain assumptions and quality assurance. Develop specialist forecasts and conduct deep ‑ dive analysis of a range of key market factors. Understand pre ‑ FID liquefaction supply projects, costs and economic analysis. Sense ‑ check global forecasts; reconcile differences and highlight implications. Contribute to freight market analytics and understanding of net-zero developments. Collaboratively develop modelling infrastructure and apply technology to advance bp’s digital aspirations. Present insights at internal forums; collaborate across regions and commodities. Essential Education: Hold a Degree in a quantitative, statistical, mathematical, engineering or similar discipline Essential Experience and Job Requirements: 8–10 years in LNG and global gas market fundamental analytics. Ability to analyze complex market dynamics and extract commercial insight. Experience and understanding of fundamental economic forecasting principles. Excellent problem-solving capability with strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently or as part of an agile team. Desirable criteria Quantitative skills; proficiency in Excel, Dataiku, and Power BI. Experience using global gas balancing models. Familiarity with origination and structuring activities. Ability to communicate key themes and messages clearly and succinctly to various stakeholders. Econometric modeling knowledge. Experience working with large data sets.
