Mechanical Engineer
Location: Coylton Mill, KA6 6LZ
Contracted hours: Full time, 45 hours per week, working Monday to Friday
Contract Type: Permanent

As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the mechanical maintenance and engineering operations across our production plants and equipment. This is a hands-on role where you’ll play a key part in ensuring optimum efficiency and safety at all times.
There will be a requirement to work occasional weekends for maintenance cover, primarily during the winter months, and for project or maintenance work during the summer. These will be scheduled in advance and rostered accordingly.
In this role the key responsibilities will include:
* Ensure the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of plant and equipment.
* Diagnose faults and carry out timely repairs and adjustments.
* Perform routine servicing and maintenance in line with the planned schedule.
* Provide technical support and advice to the mill team.
* Collaborate on project work and engineering improvements.
* Complete all required documentation accurately and on time.
* Identify the need for additional Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
* Manage material orders and ensure timely availability of parts.
* Interpret site drawings and technical project information.
Key skills & experience:
* Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment (e.g., quarry works or similar).
* Familiarity with conveying systems such as screw conveyors, chain & flight conveyors, and belt bucket elevators.
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices.
* Proficient IT skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
