Technical Proposals Manager
Turnkey Diesel Generator & Switchgear Projects
North West | Office-based
An established turnkey power generation business is looking to appoint a Technical Proposals Manager to take ownership of the technical definition of diesel generator and LV/MV switchgear projects.
This role is suited to an electrical generator engineer at heart who wants to step away from site work or heavy travel while remaining closely involved in technical decision-making.
The role
*
Own technical scoping and proposal development for turnkey diesel generator projects
*
Interpret client specifications and define compliant, deliverable solutions
*
Produce accurate, technically robust tenders and proposals
*
Act as the technical authority from enquiry through to contract award
*
Retain technical ownership post-award, working alongside a Project Delivery Manager responsible for site delivery
This is not a sales role and not a site delivery position.
Backgrounds that suit this role
*
Generator field service or commissioning engineers
*
Electrical or generator project engineers
*
Engineers involved in installation, integration, or pre-install project definition
Previous tender or proposal experience is beneficial but not essential if technical depth is strong.
Why you might make this move
*
Reduced travel and site exposure
*
Progression into a management role
*
Greater control over how projects are set up
*
Ability to influence outcomes earlier, not just fix problems later
*
A stable, office-based engineering career path
If you have grown up around diesel generators and want to apply that experience upstream, this role offers a clear transition.
Package
Salary is £60,000 to £65,000 depending on experience, plus £7,500 car allowance, pension, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, and fully expensed travel.
Security
You must be able to obtain SC-level clearance due to the secure environments involved.
