Responsibilities
* Lead environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives across construction and civil engineering projects.
* Ensure activities meet legal, regulatory, and client requirements while promoting best practices in environmental management for construction and civils.
Key requirements
* Essential
o Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
o Previous experience in environmental management within construction or civil engineering.
o Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and construction best practices.
o Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and lead auditing.
o NEBOSH Environmental Certificate or a similar qualification.
* Desirable
o Membership of IEMA, CIWEM, or a similar professional body (Chartered status desirable).
Additional information
* Assist the environmental planning and consents process for construction and civil engineering projects, ensuring all environmental approvals, permits, and planning conditions are met in line with legal, regulatory, and client requirements.
* Provide environmental training and toolbox talks to site teams and subcontractors.
* Provide technical input into design development to avoid or mitigate environmental impacts.
* Prepare reports and presentations for clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
* Lead investigations into environmental incidents and non-conformances.
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to monthly HSQE reporting.
* Support emergency response planning and pollution prevention measures.
* Support the environmental planning and consents process for projects.
