J&J Therapy is a well-established physiotherapy clinic located in New Malden, Surrey, serving a diverse and multicultural community. We provide a comprehensive range of physiotherapy and rehabilitation services, operating 7 days a week. Our clinic serves approximately 300 patients per month, with a significant proportion of Korean-speaking patients reflecting the local community demographics.
The Role
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Physiotherapy Assistant to join our clinical team. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of our HCPC-registered Senior Physiotherapist, assisting in the delivery of high-quality physiotherapy treatments and rehabilitation programmes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Deliver hands-on manual therapy and soft tissue mobilisation techniques under the direction and supervision of the HCPC-registered Senior Physiotherapist
* Administer shockwave therapy treatments as prescribed in individual patient treatment plans
* Perform manual lymphatic drainage massage for patients with lymphoedema and post-surgical conditions
* Guide and supervise patients through prescribed rehabilitation exercise programmes
* Deliver therapeutic stretching treatments to support patient recovery and mobility
* Prepare treatment areas and maintain clinical equipment to ensure a safe and hygienic environment
* Accurately record patient treatment notes and progress updates in line with clinic protocols
* Communicate effectively with patients regarding their treatment plans, progress, and aftercare instructions
* Support the Senior Physiotherapist in conducting patient assessments and developing treatment plans
* Provide culturally sensitive care and clear communication to Korean-speaking patients in their native language
Essential Requirements
* Recognised physiotherapy qualification or equivalent clinical training in manual therapy and rehabilitation
* Demonstrable experience in delivering manual therapy, rehabilitation exercises, and hands-on patient care
* Native-level fluency in Korean (spoken and written) — this is a Genuine Occupational Requirement due to the high proportion of Korean-speaking patients in our clinic (approximately 38% of patient visits), reflecting the demographics of New Malden, one of the largest Korean communities in the UK. Clear communication in the patient's native language is essential for obtaining informed consent, explaining treatment procedures, and ensuring patient safety and dignity
* Strong understanding of musculoskeletal conditions and rehabilitation principles
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team
* Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and clinical practice
Desirable Requirements
* Experience with shockwave therapy equipment
* Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) qualification or training
* Registration with a relevant UK professional body (e.g., CNHC, SMA, FHT)
* Experience working in a physiotherapy or rehabilitation clinic setting
What We Offer
* Full-time position: 40 hours per week
* Salary: £38,000 – £42,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)
