Handyperson
Central Veterinary Services primary role is to support practices with the many management tasks that arise from running and developing a business.
We have a team of handypersons to assist with all aspects of maintenance at our Central offices and for Stowe Veterinary Group. Central and Stowe businesses are based at 6 sites in Suffolk.
Job Role
The successful candidate will need practical experience of general maintenance and repairs to support the day-to-day maintenance including general repairs, health and safety checks, technical faults and repairs plus experience in building, DIY, and general housekeeping. You will also need technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, as well as some basic IT skills.
Being friendly and approachable, you will understand the importance of keeping high standards and will take pride in the team's work. From minor plumbing and electrics, painting and decorating, no job is too big or small.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Previous experience of working in as a handyman / handywoman role (essential)
* Plumbing experience (essential)
* Electrical experience (essential)
* Good verbal skills (essential)
* Carpentry skills
* Construction skills
* Groundskeeping experience
* Electrical and mechanical problem-solving skills
* Ability to support existing maintenance team
* Ability to be able to prioritise, respond and adopt a positive approach to work
* Ability to build good relationships with suppliers
* Contracts management knowledge for larger projects
* Equipment and vehicle maintenance
* Basic IT skills in Microsoft Word and use of email
* Physically fit and able to lift light items of equipment and furniture
* Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety regulations
Daily Duties
* Meet with the team for planning the jobs for the day
* Assist the team on larger jobs
* Carry out essential maintenance jobs
* Liaise with suppliers and contractors where necessary
Additional information
* You will need to be able to drive in order to travel between our 6 sites which include: Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket and Ipswich using one of our pool vehicles
* A full driving licence is required
* The hours we need covered are between 08.30am and 17.30pm with 1 hour for lunch
* The days required are dependent on workload at the time – from 3 days with additional days as and when needed
