Responsibilities

* Supporting the product design and systems engineering activities for in-service munitions products
* Conducting and managing product and process design, development, test, manufacture and evaluation activities. Ensuring that safety remains the highest priority in the working practices of yourself and the team
* Conducting and managing trials in a safe and suitable manner, from planning through to trials execution to reporting and presenting conclusions
* Application of effective Engineering Governance throughout the product development lifecycle supporting design reviews from concept to disposal
* Configuration and maintenance of Engineering Bills of Materials for a portfolio of products
* Product design and evaluation methods e.g. Pugh Matrices, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
* Potential travel to other BAE Systems sites (mostly in UK). You will provide engineering support to the ATM team to ensure the delivery of projects within the team. Working with the Portfolio Manager and reporting to the Senior Product Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the programmes/projects include appropriate engineering development activity to achieve a robust solution. The activities will be planned with robust estimates for completion with sound risk mitigation built in. The position will be primarily based at the BAE Systems Land UK site in Glascoed, Monmouthshire on a hybrid-working pattern, with occasional travel to other customer, manufacturing and test and evaluation sites as necessary.
* Working experience of product and process engineering methodology and techniques
* Proven record of supporting multifunctional engineering teams and projects
* Strong engineering skills, including the ability to identify issues, conduct technical analysis of causes and identify solutions
* HNC or HND in engineering in mechanical/chemical or product design or equivalent experience


Desirable qualifications

* Knowledge of munitions design and manufacture or relevant Defence industry experience
* Safety management - IOSH Managing Safety/NEBOSH Certificate
* Experience and knowledge of manufacturing in a high hazard environment
* A working knowledge of Systems Engineering and Lifecycle management
