Sport Welfare Project Officer

Contract: Fixed term until March 2027

Hours: 30-37.5 hours per week (flexible working available)

Location: Home-based with national travel

Reports to: Strategic Lead - Welfare

Active Partnerships seeks a Sport Welfare Project Officer to support a vital safeguarding and culture change initiative across sport. This fixed-term, national role involves practical support, insight, and collaboration.

About the role:

This role focuses on supporting a national programme to enhance safeguarding and welfare in grassroots sport. You will help connect and coordinate 63 Sport Welfare Officers nationwide, ensuring they have the necessary tools, support, and relationships to succeed.

Your responsibilities include gathering insights, supporting daily operations, developing inclusive resources, and serving as a reliable contact to foster cultural change in sport.

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with the central team to deliver the Sport Welfare Officer Programme effectively.
* Build positive relationships with Sport Welfare Officers and stakeholders like Sport England, CPSU, and ACT.
* Review evaluations, extract insights, and inform future activities.
* Create internal reports to support programme understanding.
* Coordinate activities such as meetings and events, managing logistics and follow-up.
* Assist with large-scale events in partnership with the communications team.
* Support development of national tools, templates, and guidance for safeguarding practices.
* Ensure content and communications are inclusive and accessible.
* Maintain good administrative and communication practices to keep tasks on track.
* Travel approximately once or twice a month for regional and national events, with occasional overnight stays.

Knowledge and Skills:

* Strong interpersonal skills: rapport-building, listening, and sensitive communication.
* Excellent organization: managing time and tasks remotely.
* Openness to collaboration with diverse perspectives.
* Clear written communication tailored to different audiences.
* Ability to identify themes in feedback to inform decision-making.
* Basic understanding of safeguarding, welfare, and wellbeing.
* Proficiency with digital tools like email, video conferencing, and shared documents.
* Self-motivated and proactive, with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Work Environment and Support:

* Remote work with regular online meetings.
* Travel required 1-2 times per month; overnight stays 3-4 times per year.
* Flexible working options considered.
* Access to co-working or local offices if needed.
