Consultant Radiologist with an interest in GI / Gynae

This post has arisen for a Consultant Radiologist within Clinical Radiology at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to support general radiology with interest in gynaecology and gastrointestinal imaging.

The successful candidate will assist in the smooth running of the Directorate and with colleagues in the provision of an effective and efficient service.

The post will be based at both Chorley & Ribble District Hospital and Preston Hospital sites, with some sub-specialty sessions at the new Community Diagnostic Centre in Preston. The postholder must live within 45 minutes' drive of Preston Hospital.

The post holder will participate in service management and attend relevant meetings, including Diagnostic Imaging Directorate, Medical Staffing Committee, and others. Opportunities for developing subspecialist interests are supported.

The candidate will provide cross-sectional imaging reporting and MDT support, with 10 programmed activities including imaging support (8 DPAs, 1.5 SPAs, 0.6 on-call).

General duties include:

* Managing the department for efficient patient flow, adhering to local and national targets.
* Supporting staffing levels, including short-term sickness cover.
* Collaborating with nursing, medical, and radiographic staff to ensure quality patient care.
* Teaching junior doctors and staff, and engaging in audit activities.
* Performing other duties as allocated by senior staff.

Participation in meetings and registration with the Royal College of Radiologists are required. Our services are structured into divisions, with Radiology managed within the Clinical Directorate for Diagnostics, Clinical Support, and Performance. The Radiology Directorate includes Radiology, Neuroradiology, Ultrasound, Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Mammography at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital. MRI, CT, and U/S services are also provided at Healthport.
