The role will include close working with the Deputy DIPC to lead on the development of the IPC strategy ensuring engagement of all groups of staff, patients and external organisations where appropriate in the prevention of healthcare acquired infections.
The post holder will manage the two Senior IPC CNS's and be a clinical and professional leader who will strengthen the infection prevention and control nursing contribution to ensure safety of patient and service users across BHRUT. A key priority for the post holder will be to develop and ensure IPC practice compliance across the Trust is in accordance with national standards, while monitoring trust KPI thresholds and contribute to improvement programmes.
Main duties of the job
To work closely with the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC), Deputy Director of Infection Prevention and Control (Dep. DIPC), Infection Prevention & Control Doctor (IPCD) and other Infection Prevention & Control Nurses (IPCNs) in the planning, provision and promotion of a comprehensive 7 day Infection Control Service for BHRUT.
The Infection Control Service (ICS) provides infection prevention and control (IPC) specialist advice, proactive & reactive support and training to the hospital patients, staff and contractors of BHRUT. The aim of the service is to provide ongoing infection prevention and control programme to reduce the risk of health care associated infection and so contributing to the quality of patient care and service delivery.

Education/Qualifications
Essential:
* Registered Nurse with NMC Registration
* Educated to masters level with a post graduate qualification in IPC at BSc/Masters level or equivalent experience
* Qualified teaching/presentation skills - ENB 998 or equivalent
Desirable:
* Quality Improvement methodology course attendance.
* Management or leadership qualification
