Job Responsibilities
* Carry out a range of social work interventions as allocated by the team manager, focusing on a restorative approach to practice.
* Support families to develop their own plans via Family meetings or Family Group Conferencing, maintaining children within the support of family networks and professionals.
* Promote strength-based relationships in all aspects of work with staff, partners, colleagues, children, and families.
* Provide day-to-day line-management and coordination of PA support to social workers.
* Ensure Family Group Conferences/Family Meetings are offered to all allocated families.
* Focus on the quality of practice and achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
* Provide high-quality and timely assessments and reports for courts, child protection case conferences, statutory reviews, and other forums.
* Plan, carry out, and monitor activities for individual children and families, ensuring outcomes are aspirational and achieved in partnership with relevant agencies.
* Review individual children's and families' situations regularly, using outcomes to develop new arrangements and plans.
* Maintain client records in line with Directorate policies and procedures.
* Develop and sustain positive working relationships and partnerships to create safe plans for children.
* Participate in the development of new initiatives and policy across the Directorate.
* Support the Team Manager in staff and team development, including coaching and mentoring social workers and students.
* Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and post, including deputizing in the absence of the Team Manager.
* Flexibility to work at any other location across the district as required.
Person Specifications
* Professional Social Work qualification (DIP SW, CQSW, CSS) or other certified qualification by Social Worker England.
* Registration with Social Work England.
* Substantial post-qualifying experience and a wide range of experience in the social work role.
* Experience of working with complex workloads.
* Understanding of key legislation related to children's welfare, safeguarding, child in need, children in care, care leavers, and children with disabilities and SEND.
* Sound knowledge of child development and family dynamics.
* Knowledge of vulnerabilities faced by children and families, and the impact of illness and disability.
* Ability to undertake high-quality timely assessment, planning, monitoring, and review of individual cases.
* Ability to develop relationships with children, parents, and carers, and work restoratively to support families.
* Teamwork skills and contribution to service development through a team approach.
* Skills in direct work with children and adults.
* Good communication skills at all levels.
* Ability to prioritize work and manage competing demands.
* Good recording and report writing skills.
* High standards of ICT literacy and ability to use digital tools to engage with families and young people.
* Flexible approach to social work tasks.
* Commitment to high-quality services for children and families.
* Commitment to personal growth and development.
* Ability to demonstrate restorative approaches to working with Families and Children.
