Role & Responsibilities
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for leading day-to-day delivery, support, and availability of the FDB Global Infrastructure. This includes, but is not limited to, building, configuring, administering, and supporting infrastructure technologies and solutions. They may involve computing, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, COTS, open-source packages, and solutions. They can also include containerized, virtual and cloud computing such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS).
Qualifications And Experience
The successful candidate will aid in designing and implementing standard information security and security controls to mitigate threats within FDB solutions and services. You will contribute to the technical design and delivery of FDB global projects ensuring ROI and value. Responsibilities include capacity management, business continuity, and backup of all FDB platform hosted systems, and creating SOPs and procedures to drive and ensure QoS for the infrastructure platform.
Principal Accountabilities
* Technical lead for day-to-day support and availability of the FDB Global OSS Infrastructure, including build, configuration, administration, and support of infrastructure technologies; may include IaaS, PaaS, SaaS environments.
* Perform cross-functional, multidisciplinary technical support and delivery of FDB global projects; compile technology-related documentation for GxP and critical IT technologies. Participate/lead system validation and testing processes as required. Represent IT systems in audits and inspections.
* Work with FDB technical architects to translate architectural designs into operational delivered solutions and services.
* Deploy new technology, systems and hardware ensuring integration with existing systems; ensure policies and procedures are followed and deployed systems meet security frameworks; define and meet AIS metrics prior to new deployments.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
8+ years in a 3rd/4th line IT infrastructure role with a proven enterprise IT background, or 3+ years in a biomedical IT service environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Scope And Accountability
* Lead capacity, support, and availability management of the FDB global IT platform, storage, and business continuity services.
* Brief and advise senior IT management on technology support and availability needs; produce solution documents and reports.
* Mentor peers and help build IT/OT technical solutions with secure-by-design methodology.
* Provide cross-functional technical support for project work packages, design requirements, and procedures related to enterprise IT/OT systems.
* Contribute to roadmaps and strategies for IT/OT architecture and security initiatives; design systems with medium/high risk and complexity.
* Consult with administrators, vendors, and other departments to guide enterprise technical solutions aligned with business strategy.
* Delivery of FDB cybersecurity governance and policies across IT/OT infrastructure systems.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
* 8+ years in a 3rd/4th line infrastructure engineer role in a global enterprise, or 3+ years in biomedical IT support; combination of both acceptable.
* Design and support knowledge of infrastructure tech such as RHEL, VMware, Windows Server (2012–2022), Citrix, Hyperconverged, Ansible, Satellite, Debian.
* Experience with backup/replication technologies (e.g., Veeam).
* Strong experience building and managing enterprise Linux systems and container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
* Experience with open-source projects and licenses; cloud platforms (AWS, Azure); storage solutions; and ISO27000 security frameworks.
* Understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, VPN); scripting and automation; security for open-source tech.
* Adept at communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders; able to gain support for IT initiatives with varying risk levels.
