Young Sounds is a reflective organisation. We’ve always invested time and effort in seeking out, understanding and demonstrating the difference our programmes are making. We believe in learning from experience. This is what we mean by evaluation.

We have recently secured funding to build on our evaluation work to date, and it is a priority for us to more fully embed evaluation throughout our work – the Evaluation Director will be critical to us achieving this. The Evaluation Director is a new role and will lead the development and implementation of Young Sounds’ evaluation strategy, ensuring that our work is evidence-based and impactful.

Working Relationships

Reporting to the Chief Executive you will work closely with the Data Officer, the Connect Programme Director and Programme Producers, the Thrive Programme Director and Thrive programme team, the Discover Programme Manager, the Finance and Operations Director and the Systems Consultant to strengthen our approach to cross organisational evaluation. This will enable us to report more effectively and accurately to Arts Council England (ACE), the Department for Education (DfE) and our other funders, collating and analysing the data (qualitative and quantitative) collected.

Beyond the Young Sounds team, you will work with a wide range of stakeholders including young people taking part in our programmes and their families, alumni mentors/other mentors, school staff, our delivery partners, funders such as Arts Council England and the Department for Education, and Hub Leads.

How to Apply

When completing the application form, you will be asked to attach a supporting statement of no more than two sides of A4, addressing how you are a strong candidate for the position. Applicants are expected to demonstrate in detail that they have the knowledge, skills and experience required for the role. The essential criteria must be addressed, evidenced and with relevant examples provided.

As part of our commitment to a fair and open recruitment process, Young Sounds UK anonymises all applications before shortlisting candidates for interview. Therefore identifying information should not be included in the supporting statement.

Young Sounds UK is an equal opportunities and Real Living Wage employer. We operate an anonymised recruitment process to try and eliminate unconscious bias. We are committed to attracting and recruiting diverse candidates as it’s important that our trustees, staff and volunteers reflect the communities we serve at every level within the organisation.

Applicants are asked to complete an Equal Opportunities Form, which is submitted separately from their application. The form is only seen for administration and monitoring purposes. It is not considered for any selection decisions and is not shared.

Due to the volume of applications we receive we are unable to provide feedback to applicants who have not been invited to interview.

Any queries about the role or application process should be sent to recruitment@youngsounds.org.uk.
