Opportunity
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Consultant in Fetal Medicine to join our dedicated maternity team at Newham University Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust - one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country.

Responsibilities
* To be integral to providing Fetal Medicine services.
* To take an active role in developing clinical governance initiatives, participate in multidisciplinary audit, clinical effectiveness initiatives and risk management.
* To have regard at all times to the clinical and quality standards set out in the Patients\' Charter and the local purchasers\' contracts.
* To liaise effectively and on a timely basis with General Practitioners, community services, and all healthcare agencies.
* To maintain and promote team and multidisciplinary work with the specialties, working closely and regularly with the consultant medical staff.
* To provide leadership in teaching and clinical research.
* To be up to date in statutory and mandatory training programs.
* To maintain \'Good Medical Practice\' and be in \'good standing\' with the RCOG.

Qualifications and Experience
Professional Training and Experience
* CCST/CCT (or equivalent), or within 6 months of a date, or entry on the Specialist Register of the GMC for Obstetrics & Gynaecology
* ATSM or Equivalent in Fetal Medicine with Experience in Obstetrics
* Experience in Obstetrics
Desirable
* ATSM in Obstetrics and Labour Ward Management
Skills and Knowledge
Essential
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Good organizational skills
* Experience of multidisciplinary working
* Commitment to continuing personal development
Desirable
* Experience of working in multi-ethnic and multicultural communities
* Experience in liaising across organizational boundaries
Clinical Governance and Training

* Record of Completed audit projects
* An understanding of Clinical Governance and its application to Obstetrics

* NHS complaint handling
* Critical incident reporting
* Risk management training
Research and Teaching
Essential
* Thorough grasp of current obstetrics developments
* Record of Teaching at under- and post- graduate levels; evidence of multidisciplinary teaching
Desirable
* Publication of research articles; understanding of research methodology
* Training for trainer courses (e.g., APLS/ATLS) and ongoing professional development
