Job Reference: JH-RMP-SFCC Job Title: Support Worker / Carer (Maternity Cover Only) Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer (Mum & Dad) Hours: 7 hours per week Hourly Rate of Pay: £13.40 Based at: Employer's own home in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk and out in the local community. Please note that the position is Maternity Cover only with a start date of April 2025 Job Purpose The purpose of the job is to support and be a friendly companion to a young girl (10) with autism and global developmental delay. The child lives at home with her family. The purpose is to build a trusting, professional relationship with the child and to support her with all his needs. Personal care will be required. The child has a great character. Main duties: To support with: * Personal care e.g. washing, dressing and moving. * Constant supervision is always required. * Support with all safety aspects. * To be a social friendly companion to the child * To support with sensory play * On occasions, light household duties such as changing the bed, hoovering, washing up, etc * You will be required to keep her entertained in the home. * To build a supportive relationship and take part in activities which the child enjoys. * To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required. Personal Specification * Flexible in the hours and times that you can work. * Have a good sense of humour and enjoy a friendly joke. * Be patient and supportive. * Be friendly and outgoing. * Be honest, reliable and trustworthy. * Be respectful of the employer's dignity, at all times. * Understand the need for privacy and confidentiality. * You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety. * Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills. * A willingness to undergo any training highlighted by the employer. * You should have some knowledge and understanding of risks. * Have an awareness and knowledge of equal opportunities.
