Overview
An exciting opportunity to join the Care of the Elderly team at Weston General Hospital. The successful applicant will be predominantly responsible for providing care for patients on Care of the Elderly wards, including the Older Persons Assessment Unit, Kewstoke ward (acute medicine for the older person), Uphill ward (acute medicine for the older person and stroke rehabilitation) and Draycott ward (complex discharge). The applicant will also support Care of the Elderly clinics, including movement disorders, TIA, Frailty SDEC and Rapid Access Care of the Older Person (RACOP).
Key Responsibilities
Maintain continuity of patient care on Care of the Elderly wards and clinics.
* Provide clinical care on Older Persons Assessment Unit, Kewstoke, Uphill and Draycott wards.
* Support Care of the Elderly clinics in movement disorders, TIA, Frailty SDEC and RACOP.
* Participate in a full shift rota with Specialty Registrars over a 16‑week period, covering long days, on‑call, nights, twilights and weekend discharge shifts.
On‑Call and Shadow Period
A shadow period will be provided for on‑call duties. Solo on‑calls will not begin until July/August 2026. The post may start as early as May 2026, subject to notice period in current role.
