Accounts Supervisor
Location: Twyford, near Winchester, Hampshire
Salary: £30,000 – £37,500 per annum (full-time equivalent, DOE)

Are you an experienced practice accountant looking for a role where you can take ownership of your work, build strong client relationships, and enjoy genuine flexibility?
Our client is a busy, friendly, and well-regarded firm of accountants with a strong local reputation. They support a wide range of small business and personal tax clients and are now looking to welcome an Accounts Supervisor to their team of 14.
This is a flexible opportunity, suitable for someone seeking part-time hours (typically 3–4 days per week), with the potential for full-time work for the right candidate. Working patterns and days can be agreed to suit both the individual and the business.
The Role
You will take responsibility for managing your own client portfolio with a high degree of autonomy, while reporting to one of the Accounts Managers.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Managing a portfolio of small business and personal tax clients
* Preparing and finalising limited company accounts
* Preparing and submitting self-assessment tax returns
* Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns
* Managing Making Tax Digital (MTD) submissions to HMRC
* Handling HMRC correspondence and enquiries
* Filing accounts with Companies House and HMRC
* Supporting clients with accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks, VT Transactions, Sage, and FreeAgent
* Building and maintaining strong client relationships
* Working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
What We're Looking For
We are seeking an experienced and confident practice accountant who is comfortable working independently and managing a varied client portfolio.
Essential Requirements
* 5–6 years’ experience within a private accountancy practice
* Experience managing a client portfolio independently
* Strong working knowledge of cloud and desktop accounting software
* Excellent communication and client relationship skills
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work autonomously and manage deadlines effectively
Desirable Experience
* Experience with a wide range of SME clients
* Confidence handling HMRC enquiries
* Exposure to Making Tax Digital processes
* Some senior candidates may be seeking a reduced workload or more flexible role
