The role
CORE PURPOSE We require an inspiring, highly nurturing Year 4 Teacher to deliver a vibrant, broad, and balanced primary curriculum to a lower Key Stage 2 cohort. Operating within a collaborative academy environment, the successful candidate will masterfully bridge the transition from foundational learning into deeper independent inquiry, cultivating robust reading comprehension, mathematical fluency (including complete mastery of multiplication tables up to 12×12 ), and a lifelong curiosity across the humanities and sciences. THE SCHOOL Our primary academy operates as an inclusive, community-focused mainstream school dedicated to achieving exceptional academic foundations while fostering strong personal and social development. The campus features light, modern classrooms, extensive outdoor learning zones, and an exceptionally supportive, resource-rich teaching community. Behaviour frameworks are rooted in positive reinforcement, emotional literacy, and clear routines, creating an incredibly warm, predictable, and purposeful classroom climate where young learners feel safe to take academic risks. KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS Creative Primary Curriculum Delivery: Plan and execute highly engaging, cross-curricular lessons that meet National Curriculum objectives while sparking deep engagement in history, geography, and the arts. Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) Mastery: Implement systematic, high-impact numeracy routines to ensure all pupils build rapid, confident recall of multiplication facts in preparation for the statutory Year 4 electronic check. Advanced Literacy and Phonics Bridging: Deliver precise reading and writing tuition, focusing heavily on expanding vocabulary, grammar structures, and analytical comprehension to transition pupils into fluent, independent readers. Inclusive Scaffolding & Differentiation: Target and dismantle learning barriers, deploying practical resources, visual aids, and tailored interventions to accelerate progress for all learners, including those with SEND or EAL (English as an Additional Language). Holistic Pastoral Care: Maintain full pastoral oversight of the class cohort, managing daily emotional check-ins, tracking attendance, leading reflective circle-time sessions, and maintaining proactive, trusted partnerships with parents and carers. PROFILE REQUIREMENTS Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized primary teaching qualification, supported by a strong academic background and deep familiarity with the lower Key Stage 2 National Curriculum framework. Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to foster excellent academic progress and emotional growth through structured, multi-sensory primary pedagogy and proactive formative assessment. Classroom Presence: A warm, energetic, and highly organized classroom management style, with an innate ability to establish strong, respectful boundaries while maintaining an inclusive and joyful learning space. REGIONAL CONTEXT North London Green Spaces & Diverse Heritage: Situated in the leafy Outer London borough of Barnet, the school serves a wonderfully diverse, multicultural suburban community. The local area's abundant historic architecture, local nature reserves, and proximity to major cultural institutions provide a rich, living backdrop for local geography studies, ecological field trips, and historical inquiries. Connectivity & Infrastructure: The campus is uniquely well-placed for commuting professionals across North London and Hertfordshire, utilizing excellent road linkages via the A1, A406 North Circular, and the M1 motorway corridor. Public transit connections are exceptional; the academy is seamlessly served by comprehensive London Bus networks and sits within easy reach of the Northern Line (via High Barnet, Edgware, or Finchley Central stations) alongside Thameslink rail services via Mill Hill Broadway, offering rapid, direct transit straight into Central London.
